The Interior ministry has termed as fake a letter suggesting that there could be a three-week lockdown because of the Covid-19 spread.

The ministry urged members of the public to regard the letter as fake.

Just yesterday, the Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe had to warn politicians from publishing fake news on their social media handles, terming their actions reckless and irresponsible.

This is after Dagoretti South MP John Kiarie aka KJ claimed that the national government was lying about the number of people under quarantine.

The MP was later summoned by detectives and issued a clarification, saying that he was only offering his personal sentiments.

During his media briefing on Monday, March 30, CS Kagwe said that the number of Kenyans projected to have contracted coronavirus by end of April is 10,000.

As of Monday, the Ministry of Health had confirmed that 50 people in the country had tested positive for coronavirus, with Nairobi leading with the most cases.
