Kenyan leaders have congratulated Harambee Stars after their stunning 1–0 victory over Morocco in the third CHAN group stage match at the Moi Kasarani International Stadium on Sunday, August 10, 2025.

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi praised the team’s resilience, posting on X :

“Well in Harambee Stars! With grit, heart, and unity, you triumphed over Morocco even with 10 men on the pitch. You’ve shown the world the spirit of Kenya, undaunted, determined, and destined for greatness. Onward to even bigger victories!”

“Beating Morocco 1–0, and doing it in style despite going down to 10 men, is a true display of grit, discipline, and the never-say-die Kenyan spirit. Hongera vijana wetu, you’ve made Kenyans super proud!”

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka hailed the historic nature of the win:

“A historic victory for our brave Harambee Stars. You’ve all made us so proud beating Morocco, the most successful team in the CHAN tournament. Every Kenyan player on the field and on the bench are my Man of the Match!”

Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris also congratulated goal scorer Ryan Ogam and urged the team to maintain momentum against Zambia in their next game.

Impressive Kenya

The match was a thrilling contest, with Tusker FC forward Ryan Ogam scoring the decisive goal in the 43rd minute after capitalising on a 50/50 ball in the Moroccan defensive box.

Harambee Stars head coach Benni McCarthy made bold changes to the lineup, leaving wonderkid Austin Odhiambo and captain Aboud Omar on the bench for the first time in the tournament. Morocco applied early pressure, but goalkeeper Bryne Omondi made crucial saves to keep Kenya in the game.

Even after going down to 10 men, the Kenyan side held firm, denying Morocco, one of the most successful teams in CHAN history, a chance to equalise.

Focus on Zambia

The victory has reignited optimism among Kenyan fans, with Harambee Stars now looking ahead to their final group stage clash against Zambia, carrying the spirit, grit, and unity that earned them this historic triumph.
