Esther Passaris tells media to stop daily negative headlines about Ruto
Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has called on the media to stop publishing daily negative headlines about President William Ruto.
She said the president should be given time to work, adding that he has been travelling to different countries in search of investors for Kenya.
“Wacheni Ruto afanye kazi, nimeona kwa mtandao amesema enough is enough. Huwezi piga headlines kila siku, and here we have a president going all over the world looking for investors. Yeye pia ni binadamu,” Passaris said on Friday, June 26, 2026.
She explained that the media also has a responsibility to the country. According to Passaris, news coverage should not only focus on negative stories because the media is part of Kenya and should play its role in building the nation.

“I want to tell the media, the media has to know one thing, this is your country too,” she said.
Passaris also referred to the events of 2007 as she spoke about the role of the media. She said both the churches and the media did not take the right direction during that period and urged journalists to be mindful of the stories they publish.
“In 2007, the churches and media did not take the right direction. You cannot have a horror story every day on your papers,” Passaris said.
Her message on Ruto and unity
Passaris also expressed confidence in President Ruto’s leadership. She said she believes he will be remembered for his performance and urged people to allow him to continue with his work.
“William Ruto will go down in history as the best-performing president. Enough is enough. Let William Ruto do the work, atakua two-term,” she said.

She also called for unity and urged Kenyans to avoid tribal politics. Passaris said the country should move away from division and instead focus on supporting one another.
“Hatutaki ukabila,” Passaris said.
She ended her remarks by using an example to explain her message about standing by the country. According to Passaris, people should continue supporting their country despite its challenges.
“Hata kama mtoto wako ni mbaya, si ni wako?” Esther Passaris said.
