Kindiki explains why Ruto stands a great chance of securing 2027 win

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has expressed strong confidence in President William Ruto’s re-election prospects in 2027, attributing it to the administration’s focus on national development, economic empowerment, and inclusive leadership.
With a firm belief in the government’s achievements and a growing portfolio of projects to show for it, Kindiki has projected confidence that Ruto’s leadership will secure the trust of voters once again in 2027.
Speaking on Friday, July 18, 2025, during the Shinyalu Economic Empowerment event at Mukumu Grounds in Kakamega County, Kindiki said Ruto’s administration is prioritising the welfare of all Kenyans regardless of tribe, region, or social status, a leadership style he believes resonates deeply with the public.
“We will continue to develop the country as our opponents continue to make noise, engage in tribal politics and sideshows,” Kindiki stated.
“We are working hard to make sure what we have started is accomplished before 2027 because we will come back here to you with a development scorecard as we seek a second term.”
Kindiki emphasised that the government’s development agenda cuts across key sectors, including roads, health, electricity, affordable housing, and youth empowerment.
He credited the broad-based nature of the current administration for bringing together leaders focused on real issues affecting Kenyans.
“We are all behind President Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga under the broad-based government. We are focused on interests and issues affecting all Kenyans and not politicians,” the DP asserted.
In Kakamega, several government-backed projects are currently underway in partnership with the county leadership. These include the elevation of Kakamega Referral Hospital to Level 6, following President Ruto’s directive to expedite construction so residents can soon access advanced healthcare services.
“The President came here and promised allocation of funds to complete Kakamega Level 6 Hospital. Work is ongoing and will be completed in the next 6 months, and residents will benefit from better healthcare,” Kindiki assured.

He said the government has also released funds for the renovation of Bukhungu Stadium and is investing in modern market infrastructure, including a major market in Khayega. Additionally, affordable housing initiatives are progressing, with student accommodation projects benefiting Masinde Muliro University and Sigalagala National Polytechnic.
On energy, the Deputy President announced that Kakamega County has received Ksh2.5 billion under the last-mile electricity program, aiming to connect 26,000 new households.
“We want every home in Kakamega to be connected to electricity because it is not a reserve for a few rich people,” he said.
Kindiki also cited the ongoing efforts to revive the region’s key economic drivers, including the sugar industry and gold mining sector.
He noted that bonus payments to sugar farmers and the identification of a new investor for Kakamega’s gold sector signal progress toward greater economic stability for the region.
“We are working hard every day and night to ensure our people earn more in every sector,” he said.
Turning his attention to the opposition, Kindiki criticised leaders he said were stuck in tribal politics and unproductive rhetoric.
“They are not bothered about the welfare of our youth and other Kenyans. Their work is to make noise from morning to evening without any development agenda for the country,” he remarked.
