Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has expressed appreciation for the peaceful demonstrations that were held by his constituents outside his office.

Sharing on his X account on June 20, 2024, Khawale lauded his constituents for peacefully holding the protests and thanked police officers for allowing the peaceful demonstrations to take place.

Further, Khalwale attached a video showing his constituents peacefully ranting with twigs asking that the Finance Bill 2024 be rejected.

“I congratulate our beloved Kakamega youth for peacefully presenting their memorandum on the Finance Bill 2024 to my Kakamega Office. Kudos to police officers for keeping off these constitutional peaceful demonstrations,” Khalwale noted.

The protestors joined the chorus of voices calling for leaders to stand resolute in rejecting the Finance Bill 2024, even in light of recent proposed amendments.

Occupy parliament protests

Protestors who are against the Finance Bill 2024 matched to the streets for the second day in demonstrations spreading from Nairobi to other parts of Kenya as taxpayers oppose President William Ruto’s plan to finance his Ksh3.9 trillion budget.

In Nairobi, streets were once again crowded with street demos on Thursday, June 20, 2024, morning, when armed police fired teargas to disperse protesters.  Anti-riot police had blocked several roads near Parliament in order to make sure civilians were barred from accessing it.
