Kenya Power lists parts of 6 counties to experience blackout on July 28
Kenya Power has announced a planned power outage set to affect various regions across the country on Monday, July 28, 2025. The blackout will run from as early as 8.00 am to 5.00 pm, depending on the area. The electricity supplier explained that the interruption is part of regular maintenance work aimed at improving the reliability of the power supply.
In the Central Rift region, parts of Bomet County will be affected, including Bomet Town, Kaboson, Tenwek, Merigi, Longisa, and Mulot. Key places like Tenwek Hospital, Bomet Police Station, Fairmount Hotel, Longisa Hospital, Bomet Prison, and several tea factories and markets will go without power during the day.

In the North Rift region, residents of Enego and Kimaren in Nandi County will also experience the blackout. Nearby customers have been advised to make necessary arrangements.
Other regions
Over in the South Nyanza region, the power cut will hit Tombe, Kemera, and Manga in Nyamira County. Important institutions such as the Tombe Tea Factory, Nyambaria Secondary School, and the surrounding areas will be affected.
In Kiambu County, the blackout will affect areas around Chief Koinange Girls and Valentine Growers. Places like Willopark Apartment, Mugumoini Primary School, and Raini Water Pump will also have no electricity between 8.00 am and 5.00 pm.
The Mt. Kenya region is not spared either. Parts of Nyeri County, specifically Kiamwathi and Giakanja, will have no power. Ruringu Stadium, Chorong’i Coffee Factory, Giakanja Secondary School, and surrounding markets are among the affected locations.
Finally, in the Eastern region, parts of Meru County, including Igoji, Kinoro, and Kathigu, will face a blackout from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Institutions such as Igoji Teachers Training College, Kinoro Tea Factory, Miruriri Secondary School, and Gikurune Boys will be affected, alongside several villages and markets.
Kenya Power has advised customers in the mentioned areas to plan accordingly and apologised for the inconvenience. The company noted that these maintenance works are necessary to ensure a more stable and efficient electricity supply in the future.
