Kenya Power lists parts of 3 counties to experience outage on Monday, October 13

Kenya Power has announced a scheduled electricity interruption on Monday, October 13, 2025, that will affect parts of Nyeri, Embu, and Kiambu counties as part of ongoing system maintenance to enhance reliability and improve power quality.
In a statement released by the utility company on Sunday, October 12, 2025, the planned outages will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., depending on the area, and will allow Kenya Power technicians to carry out essential maintenance on the electricity distribution network.
In Nyeri County, areas set to be affected between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. include King’ong’o, Kimathi University, Gamerock, Mt. Kenya Bottlers, Chania MOW, Garden Estate, King’ong’o Prisons, Highlands, KIE, Hill Farm, Hill Court, Kahawa Ridge, Dedan Kimathi University, Sunrise Hostels, Bomas, Kabiru-Ini, Showground and Police Post, Major Seminary, Eunice Academy, Embassy Shopping Centre, Thathua, and Golden Gates Hotel, among others.
“This interruption is necessary to facilitate maintenance works that will help in enhancing the quality and reliability of the power supply,” Kenya Power stated.

In Embu County, the areas of Ishiara and Karurumo will be affected from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Other impacted localities include Kanyombora, Kagaga, Iriri, Karerema, Kabubua, Kanyama, Kamumu, Kadde, Gatatha, Kavegero, Mugwanjogu, Kasafari, Karagare, Intex Crasher, and Murari.
Kenya Power emphasised that such maintenance is crucial for supporting the region’s growing energy demand.
“We regret any inconvenience caused and urge customers to treat all lines as live,” the utility added.
Meanwhile, in Kiambu County, parts of the North Eastern Region, including Mataara and Gacharage Market, will also experience outages from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Affected areas include Matara Tea Factory, Ngethu Water Works, Gathugu Village, Gituamba Market, Gatunguru Boys, Mataara Dispensary, Miugu Village, Kiriko Mission, Kariminu Water, and several local markets such as Kanyoni, Ndiko, Gakoe, and Ituramiro.
Kenya Power has advised affected residents and businesses to plan accordingly during the downtime.
