Kenya Power announces planned blackouts in parts of 3 counties

Kenya Power has announced planned power outages in several parts of the country on Friday, August 15, 2025.
The outages will affect parts of Nairobi, Nyeri, and Mombasa. The scheduled maintenance is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to improve the reliability of electricity supply across the country.
“Please be advised, the following areas will be on planned maintenance tomorrow, 15.08.2025,” the utility company posted on their X account on Thursday, August 14, 2025.
According to the announcement, residents and businesses in the Pangani area of Nairobi will experience a power outage from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The affected locations include Pangani Shopping Centre, Chai Road, Forest Road, and nearby customers.
Nyeri and Mombasa affected
In the Mt Kenya region, parts of Nyeri County will also be affected. The blackout will occur between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm in areas such as Muruguru, Githiru, and Kiamuiru. Key affected sites include Githiru Market, Kiamuiru Safaricom Booster, Satima Millers, Mugwathi Gardens, and Ngibuini, along with surrounding customers.
Meanwhile, in the Coast region, residents of Mombasa County will face outages from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm in the Miritini and Bonje areas. The disruption will affect Miritini Estate, Doshi, Maganda, Mbuyu wa Chapa Bonje, and neighbouring households and businesses.
Kenya Power emphasised that these outages are necessary to carry out maintenance work on electrical infrastructure, which is essential for a safe and uninterrupted power supply.
Power outages, while inconvenient, are a routine part of Kenya Power’s maintenance programme. The company regularly schedules such work to inspect transformers, repair lines, and upgrade equipment to prevent unplanned disruptions in the future.
Kenya Power encourages customers to follow updates on its website and social media platforms to stay informed about any changes in the schedule. By planning ahead, residents and businesses in the affected regions can reduce disruption and ensure safety during the maintenance work.
