The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has reopened Nairobi’s Southern Bypass to traffic.
In a statement on Sunday, January 5, 2024, KeNHA announced the reopening of the road from Ole Sereni Interchange to Ngong Road Interchange.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to inform the public that the section of Nairobi Southern Bypass from Ole Sereni Interchange to Ngong Road Interchange has been opened to traffic today. The Authority appreciates your patience during the temporary closure for essential bridge and pavement repairs,” KeNHA announced.
“Motorists are advised to observe road signs and exercise caution for their safety and that of other road users. Don’t speed to impress, arrive to embrace.”
KeNHA closed the road from Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at 8.00 pm to Sunday, January 5, 2025 midnight.
In a statement on Monday, December 23, 2024, KeNHA announced the closure is to enable the rehabilitation of the expansion joints of all the bridges along the closed section as well as reconstruction of concrete pavement of the virtual weighbridge.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) would like to inform the public that a section of Nairobi Southern Bypass from Ole Sereni Interchange to Ngong Road Interchange (both carriageways) shall be temporarily closed,” KeNHA stated.
“This is to enable the rehabilitation of the expansion joints of all the bridges along the closed section as well as reconstruction of concrete pavement of the Virtual Weighbridge. The closure will commence on Tuesday December 24, 2024, at 8.00 pm to Sunday January 5, 2025 Midnight.”
