KeNHA pledges compliance with ISO standards in road development

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has reaffirmed its commitment to building safe, resilient, and well-maintained national roads while strengthening its information security and management systems.
In a statement released on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, the Authority emphasised its focus on ensuring sustainable infrastructure development by leveraging innovation and optimising the use of available resources to enhance customer satisfaction.

The Authority said it is committed to safeguarding the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of its information and processing facilities, ensuring that its operations are secure and reliable.
KeNHA has also pledged full compliance with all national and regulatory requirements. This includes adherence to government policies, directives, legal frameworks, and contractual obligations.
The Authority intends to conduct regular reviews of its policies at least once every three years to ensure continued alignment with best practices and evolving standards.
KeNHA said its top management has committed to providing the necessary resources to implement and continuously improve its Integrated Management Systems.

These systems are designed to meet the requirements of internationally recognised standards, including ISO 9001:2015 for quality management and IEC/ISO 27001:2022 for information security management.
Annual objectives will be set across all functional levels within the Authority, ensuring that day-to-day operations are aligned with KeNHA’s long-term strategic goals and the overall mission of delivering safe, reliable, and sustainable road infrastructure.
“Top Management of KeNHA is committed to comply with national policies, directives, circulars, legal, regulatory and statutory requirements, customer requirements, contractual obligations and other applicable requirements. We commit to reviewing this policy at least once every three years. The Top Management of KeNHA commits to providing the necessary resources towards the effective implementation and continual improvement of the Integrated Management Systems that conform to the requirements of ISO 9001:2015 and IEC/ISO 27001:2022 Standards. Integrated Management Systems objectives shall be established at all functional levels in the Authority on an annual basis, derived from the organisation’s strategic objectives,” the statement read.

KeNHA’s strategic plan for 2023–2027 includes major projects such as the Nairobi–Nakuru–Mau Summit Highway and the South Sudan Link Road in Turkana County.

These projects aim to improve connectivity, promote economic growth, and ensure safer roads for the public.
The Authority is also working on dual carriageway upgrades, maintenance works, and toll-road developments.
The Authority said it will review this policy every three years, with the first review scheduled for 2028. Annual Integrated Management System objectives will be set to ensure that strategic goals are implemented effectively and continuously improved.
