A section of the Thika Superhighway will experience temporary traffic disruption at Juja Highpoint (Centurion) to allow for milling and recarpeting works, the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced.

In a public notice issued on Thursday, November 6, 2025, KeNHA said the partial closure of the Superhighway will take place on two weekends, from Saturday, November 8, 2025, to Sunday, November 9, 2025, between 11:00 pm and 6:00 am.

It added that the closure will be rolled out again from Saturday, November 15, 2025, to Sunday, November 16, 2025, between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm.

“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify the public of a temporary traffic disruption at Juja Highpoint (Centurion) along Thika Superhighway (A2) Road,” the Authority stated.

KeNHA explained that the closure will enable milling and recarpeting of the carriageway as part of ongoing efforts to maintain the busy highway.

During this period, both Nairobi-bound and Thika-bound motorists will use the adjacent service lanes before rejoining the Superhighway past the work zones.

“Nairobi bound traffic and Thika bound traffic will use the respective adjacent service lanes before rejoining the Superhighway,” KeNHA wrote.

The Authority further urged motorists to exercise caution, adhere to the proposed traffic management plan, and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals stationed on site.

“Motorists are advised to exercise caution around the work areas, to follow the proposed traffic management plan, and to cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site,” the statement added.

A traffic management map released by KeNHA highlights the affected sections and diversion routes.

The diagram shows that the Nairobi-bound and Thika-bound lanes near Centurion Highpoint Mall will be temporarily closed, with traffic diverted through service lanes adjacent to the work areas.

Fuel stations remain accessible via the service lanes during the maintenance works. Pedestrian crossings have also been designated away from the active construction zones to enhance safety.

The notice, signed by Acting Director General Eng. Luka Kimeli, emphasised that the maintenance works are part of KeNHA’s ongoing efforts to enhance road quality and ensure smoother travel along one of the country’s busiest transport corridors.

KeNHA also urged the public to plan their journeys accordingly to avoid delays during the two scheduled disruptions.

“Motorists are advised to exercise caution around the work areas, to follow the proposed traffic management plan below and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site,” the notice added.
