Kaluma predicts landslide victory for ODM-UDA 2027 presidential candidate

Homa Bay Town Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Kaluma has boldly predicted a sweeping victory in the 2027 general elections for the yet-to-be-named presidential candidate of a coalition between the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
Taking to his official X account on Friday, July 25, 2025, Kaluma confidently declared that the ODM-UDA coalition candidate would clinch the presidency with over 80% of the vote.
“The presidential candidate of a coalition bringing ODM-UDA together in the 2027 general elections will win with over 80% of votes,” Kaluma stated, urging Kenyans to “keep this post and thank me later.”

Although no formal declaration has been made about a joint presidential ticket between ODM and UDA, Kaluma’s projection signals possible high-level negotiations and strategy discussions within Kenya’s dominant political parties, which might see President William Ruto get re-elected.
Raila’s response to Sifuna
Kaluma’s remarks come hours after former Prime Minister Raila Odinga assured the public that he will respond to Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna through the internal party structures in ODM after the senator made damning remarks on the condition of the broad-based government.
Speaking during the ODM County delegates conference in Kakamega on Friday, July 25, 2025, Raila stated that it would be wrong to respond to Sifuna through the press.
“I cannot publicly respond to Sifuna through the press, but I can wait for him at the Central Committee, National Executive Committee (NEC), and party organs; and after we agree on a position, we ask Sifuna to speak to the press and state our collective position,” Raila said.
UDA-ODM MoU
Sifuna had painted a grim picture of the state of the UDA-ODM memorandum of understanding, noting that it was as good as dead, following the government’s violation of some of the 10-point agendas that formed the basis of the agreement.
However, Raila has indicated that the party will convene to review the progress of the implementation of the 10 points before making public their decision.
“He (Sifuna) is the mouthpiece of the ODM Party. There is nothing wrong with the remarks Sifuna made; we will sit as a party and give out a statement. ODM is a democratic party, and therefore must tolerate divergent views within our party,” Raila said.
