Homa Bay Town Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Kaluma has congratulated Harambee Stars winger and Ulinzi Stars Football Club captain, Senior Private Boniface Muchiri, following his promotion in the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).
In a statement on August 28, 2025, Kaluma hailed Muchiri as a true patriot who had given his all for the country, saying the promotion was well-deserved.
“Harambee Stars player and Ulinzi Stars Football Club Captain, Senior Private Boniface Muchiri (No. 11), played his heart out as a true patriot! He has been promoted to the rank of Corporal in recognition of his outstanding performance at CHAN. WELL DESERVED – Congratulations!” Kaluma said.

The ceremony
The promotion ceremony held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, was presided over by Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF) General Charles Kahariri, with Major General Luka Kutto, the General Officer Commanding Eastern Command, officially conferring the new ranks.
In his address, General Kahariri hailed Corporal Muchiri for his professionalism and commitment both on and off the pitch.
“We are very grateful for your commitment, hard work, and excellent performance while serving Kenya and, by extension, the KDF. We wish you success in future assignments and are confident you will continue to excel,” said the CDF.

General Kahariri emphasised that the promotion was part of the Kenya Defence Forces’ broader effort to recognise and reward discipline, excellence, and talent beyond military service.
During the same function, the CDF also received an interim review report on Ulinzi Stars Football Club’s performance between 2020 and 2025. Brigadier Ahmed Saman, Chairman of the Review Committee, presented the report, which assessed the team’s tactical and technical capacity, coaching, player welfare, administration, and infrastructure.
The report also benchmarked the club against successful teams to recommend both short- and long-term measures aimed at enhancing competitiveness and strengthening management structures.
General Kahariri assured full KDF support for the implementation of the recommendations, stressing that Ulinzi Stars must remain a strong force in football while embodying the discipline and values of the Defence Forces.
