Former Roots Party presidential running mate Justina Wamae has called on the United Opposition to prioritise ideology, vision, and policy proposals over political unity for the sake of appearances.

In a statement shared via her X account on Friday, October 3, 2025, Wamae said that unity among opposition leaders should be based on shared goals for the country rather than a forced alliance.

She likened the current push for opposition unity to a troubled marriage that continues only for the sake of appearances rather than genuine agreement, warning that such arrangements often lead to stagnation and frustration.

According to Wamae, the real test of leadership lies in the ability to present and implement effective policies once in power, rather than clinging to coalitions that lack common ground.

“United Opposition, this is not like a BAD marriage where you are forced to stay together because of the children. What should bind you is your Ideology, Vision for Kenya and Policy proposals; if there is no meeting of minds, you can go your separate ways.

Wamae further urged opposition leaders to move away from herd mentality politics, which, she said, has long hindered Kenya’s progress. She insisted that Kenyans deserve leaders who can articulate and deliver on well-thought-out policy proposals rather than simply rallying around political figures or slogans.

May the best ideology and policy proposal WIN as we KICK the HERD mentality out of Kenya,” Wamae stated.

Her remarks come just days after she criticised politicians seeking to challenge President William Ruto using what she described as outdated and ineffective tactics.

In a post on her X account on Friday, September 26, 2025, Wamae argued that Kenya had moved past the era where political battles were won through physical strength or loud confrontations. She insisted that modern politics demands leaders who can shape policies and influence legislation to improve the economy and the lives of citizens.

Wamae dismissed those who claim they can defeat President Ruto through physical or verbal aggression, saying such approaches no longer hold any value in today’s political arena.

“These people who keep on telling us, ‘ndio wako na nguvu ya kupigana na Rice Ruto..’ should be told that Kenya is NOT in the pre-stone age where physical might, including mdomo might, is required. In 2025, the relevant skill or requirement is INTELLECTUAL prowess in influencing and shaping policies and legislations that create wealth for the nation of Kenya and her citizens,” Wamae stated.

She further suggested that some opposition leaders lack the intellectual capacity required for modern political leadership and instead engage in what she described as outdated strategies.

“If their supporters are honest with them, then they should tell them the truth that they are very WEAK in this front. ‘Leading’ two dead horses shenanigans!” Wamae added.
