Former Roots Party presidential running mate Justina Wamae has commented on the spat between MP Anthony Kibagendi and Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale during a Parliamentary Committee session over the Social Health Authority (SHA).

Wamae has called it a wake-up call for Kenyan voters and a reflection of deep-rooted issues in leadership.

In an interview on a local TV station on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, Wamae said the public spat, while regrettable, offers Kenyans a valuable opportunity to reflect on the kind of leaders they elect.

“It’s a good thing Kenyans are being treated to this. Because who do we vote for? Kenyans always vote for our wave. Kenyans vote for money and handouts,” she said.

Wamae argued that the lack of substantive political discourse during campaigns is to blame.

“Kenyans do not even want to know beyond the campaign. If you listen to Kenyans, they say Kevin can remove Justina, but there is no other conversation. So it’s a good thing seeing what happens now to the choices we make,” she said.

Her remarks follow a clash between Duale and Kitutu Chache South MP Anthony Kibagendi, a dramatic confrontation that briefly brought a National Assembly Health Committee session to a standstill.

The tense exchange unfolded on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, after Duale accused the legislator of being linked to two health facilities that were recently shut down over fraud accusations.

The CS claimed the hospitals were part of an ongoing probe into irregular medical claims under the Social Health Authority.

“I have closed your hospitals,” Duale shouted.

Kibagendi swiftly hit back, dismissing the accusations as false and politically driven. He accused Duale of hiding behind his close ties with President William Ruto while allowing his allies to loot funds meant for the SHA.

The MP said Duale had no moral authority to lecture lawmakers when the ministry itself was under the spotlight for corruption.

“I have no hospitals, and I have never owned even a dispensary. That is the strategy you use to hide. You need to answer questions. We are not your children; you cannot come and lecture us. Who are you? Just because you are the President’s friend, you and your friends are stealing from SHA,” Kibagendi blasted Duale.

The MP went on his social media and challenged Duale to publicly name the hospitals he claims the legislator owns.

In a statement shared on his Facebook page on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, moments after their heated exchange, Kibagendi said he was tired of being accused without evidence each time he questioned Duale about the operations of the SHA.

“Each time I ask CS Duale hard questions about SHA, he quickly switches to saying he has closed my hospitals (I don’t know which ones), and that is why I am hard on him.”

“Why can’t Duale openly say which hospitals I own, when they were registered and who are even my proxies? And then go ahead to close them completely. Then now he can answer our questions about the inadequacies and conflict of interest he has in SHA,” Kibagendi stated.
