Hussein Mohamed responds to claims of unfulfilled State House promises

State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed has defended President William Ruto’s empowerment programme at State House amid public criticism.
Taking to his official X account on Saturday, August 16, 2025, Hussain said that contrary to the claims of unfulfilled promises, the process was transparent and all approved beneficiaries received funding.
The spokesperson stated that a total of 1,100 registered groups from Nairobi County submitted proposals for various empowerment projects, adding that all the proposals were approved and funded.
In addition, he clarified that each group had 10 members, with a chairperson responsible for delivering the projects to ensure order and accountability, amounting to 11,000 beneficiaries in total.
“A total of 1,100 registered groups from Nairobi submitted proposals for their empowerment programmes or projects, all approved, all funded, all received. Each group had 10 members with a chairperson who delivered the projects for an orderly process. That’s 11,000 people in total,” he said.

Hussein clarification
While refuting the unfulfilled promises, Hussein threw shade at a recent media report that interviewed only two individuals, without fact-checking or seeking clarification from the State House or verifying with the thousands of actual beneficiaries.
“Their curious formula: 2 voices outweigh 11,000 recipients, & that equals “unfulfilled promises.” Unbelievable! But here’s the silver lining: 11,000 more people now know exactly how the media can twist a story, & just how “truthful” they really are, deliberately or otherwise,” he added.

Hussein’s clarifications come hours after Dickens Kamau Odhiambo, popularly known as Kamau wa Kisumu, claimed that his life is in danger after revealing that he never received the motorbike promised to him during Ruto’s empowerment initiative.
Speaking in an interview with a local TV station on Friday, August 15, 2025, Kamau stressed that he had been receiving threatening calls over the missing motorbike.
“They have been calling me from private numbers, telling me to either record a video saying I received the motorbike or claim I never went to State House. I refused,” Kamau said.
He recounted that he and other youth were photographed with motorbikes at the venue, but later told to leave:
“Nikaambiwa nitoke nje ya Gate D. Hapo nikakutana na walinzi wa GSU wakaniambia nimeshatoa taarifa zangu, niende nyumbani.” When he inquired about delivery, he said, “Nikawauliza watajuaje nyumbani kwangu? Wakasema watatumia Truecaller. Nilipouliza zaidi, wakanifukuza.”

State House initiative
The empowerment event was organised by President Ruto, who had promised the youth motorbikes and other items as part of the initiative. The participants continue to demand accountability and delivery of the promised items.
