The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officials have claimed the prime suspect behind Kware’s bodies was arrested while luring another female.
In their statement on Monday, July 15 2024, detectives said that the suspect was arrested Monday morning in Kayole where he was hiding.
“In our relentless efforts to deliver justice to victims of the Kware dumping site murders and give closure to their devastated families, we have this morning arrested the prime suspect, identified as 33-year-old Collins Jumaisi Khalusha.”
“The suspect was arrested at Soweto in Kayole Sub-County at around 3 am in a joint operation by the DCI Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau and Operations directorates, outside a club where he had gone to watch the Euro 2024 football finals,” DCI remarked.
According to police, the 33-year-old Collins Khalisia was living 100 meters from the Kware dumpsite where at least 10 badly mutilated bodies of women were recovered in an operation.
Additionally, DCI headquarters in the operation also revealed that Collins was apprehended after forensic analysis of a phone belonging to Josephine Owino showed that some mobile transactions were conducted the day Josephine disappeared.
“His pursuit and subsequent arrest followed a very thorough forensic analysis of a mobile phone that belonged to one of the victims namely Josephine Owino where some mobile money transactions were conducted on the very day Josephine went missing,” the DCI boss said.

What motivated suspect to kill
Further, police said Khalisia confessed to the serial killings and that his first victim was his wife. He claimed he had established a business for his wife but she mismanaged it.
“The suspect alleges that his first victim was his wife namely Imelda Judith Khalenya whom he strangled to death before dismembering her body and disposing it at the site. From his interrogation, all his victims have been murdered in like manner,” DCI noted.
A search of the suspect’s house revealed ten mobile phones, seven identification cards, ten SIM cards, a panga, gloves, and several sacks similar to those found with the bodies at the dump site.
According to DCI, investigations are still ongoing and the suspect’s house and the dumping site remain active crime scenes.
