Hospitalised Ringtone Apoko reveals battle with breathing difficulties
Gospel singer Ringtone Apoko has spoken out for the first time since he was hospitalised on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, and disclosed that he has been battling a serious condition marked by severe breathing difficulties.
Speaking after YouTuber 2 Mbili and his friends visited him in hospital on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, the ‘Tenda Wema’ hitmaker revealed that he has been undergoing rehydration via IV drips and shared that he has been enduring an incredibly agonising experience since falling ill.
“You can see there are so many water IV drips here inside. I’ve been having serious trouble breathing,” he said.
Apoko, who was visibly delighted by 2 Mbili’s visit, added that he has also been grappling with sharp, intense chest pains.
According to him, he cannot precisely pinpoint the origin of the ailment, but he has since been prescribed medication and is hopeful of a positive recovery.
“What’s currently happening is that I’ve been put on medication. And I hope I’ll recover. But I’m still experiencing chest pains, and I can feel the ache lingering in my chest,” he shared while seated at the edge of his hospital bed.
Apoko also mentioned that he suspects the illness might have been triggered by prolonged exposure to rain over several days, possibly resulting in a severe cold.
“There was a time I was caught in the rain and tried to run, but it had already started pouring heavily, and I think that also contributed to this,” he said.
Painful sickness
The gospel star, throughout the visit, kept shifting and curling his body slowly—subtly revealing the extent of the discomfort he was going through.
When 2 Mbili arrived, Apoko did not immediately rise from the bed; instead, he gently propped himself up before finally crouching at the foot of the bed to sit.
However, before the visit came to a close and 2 Mbili along with his friends departed, Apoko had already curled himself back into a lying position, prompting the visitors to shower him with heartfelt words of encouragement and hope.
At the beginning of the visit, they started with a word of prayer led by one of 2Mbili’s friends, during which they interceded on behalf of the singer and prayed earnestly for divine healing.
2Mbili had also brought him a bundle of fresh fruit, including bananas and slices of watermelon, and Apoko expressed gratitude for the thoughtful gesture, saying he was also praying to God for a speedy recovery.
Message to Cassypool
After retreating to lie down again, Apoko urged 2 Mbili to ensure he contacts Cassypool once he returns home, and inform him that he wants him to come and see him in hospital.
“And don’t forget to tell Cassypool to come visit me here at the hospital,” Apoko said.
However, 2 Mbili’s friends were quick to respond, saying they were unsure whether the outspoken commentator was currently in the country or still in Tanzania, where he has recently gained popularity as a fan favourite.
2 Mbili, however, responded swiftly, saying he was confident that Cassypool was in Kenya and that he would ensure the message was passed on to him.
“We’re not sure if Cassypool is in Kenya or Tanzania,” one of 2Mbili’s friends remarked.
“No, Cassypool is definitely in Kenya—I saw him just yesterday in town along Koinange Street near CJ’s restaurant. He must come, and we’ll let him know,” 2 Mbili replied.
