The Ministry of Education has released the official 2025 academic calendar for primary, junior secondary and secondary schools, detailing opening and closing term dates for learners and the whole year’s key activities.

According to the official notice posted by the government spokesperson Isaac Mwaura on his X account on Thursday, November 28, 2024, term one will commence on January 6 and end on April 4, during the 13 weeks, the learners will have a five-day half-term from February 26 to March 2 while the three-week holiday will start on April 7 to April 25.

Primary, junior secondary and secondary schools will commence their second-term classes from April 28 to August 1. Half-term will be from June 25 to 29 while the August holiday will be from August 4 to 22.

The third term calendar will commence from August 25 to October 24 for a period of nine weeks and the December holiday for schools will start on October 27 this year and end on January 2, 2026.

National exams schedule

Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and Kenya Intermediate Level Education Assessment (KILEA) will run from October 27 to October 31.

The Kenya Junior Secondary Education Assessment(KJSEA) and Kenya Pre-Vocational Level Education Assessment (KPLEA) will start on October 27 to November 6.

Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education will begin on November 3 to 21 taking a period of three weeks.
