Deputy Government Spokesperson Gabriel Muthama has weighed in on the country’s economical state.

Speaking during an interview with a local TV station on Monday, November 11, 2024, Muthama underscored that the country was finally headed towards the right direction.

According to him, the government’s intensified efforts to restore the country’s economy and significantly lower the cost of living has bore fruit as Kenyans are no longer struggling with lean times as before.

He explained that the country was in a dark place having being grappled by Covid-19 virus, floods, drought and high fuel prices.

While hailing the Kenya Kwanza administration, Muthama asserted that the Kenya Kwanza government has enforced interventions that have subsequently seen the cost of precious commodities such as food and fuel go down.

“We can attest to the fact that we are no longer headed in the wrong direction, things are actually starting to look better. Inflation rate has been reducing, the fuel has been going down. Those are interventions that did not just happen, they have been put by the government and they are heading us in the right direction.

“We are coming from a very dark place where global distraction, Covid, this was not only for Kenya but the entire world. All of us were coming from a dark place, we have been hit not only by severe drought, floods which also affected our agriculture but today we are talking something very different. Food items have gone down,” he said.

The latest comes a day after President William Ruto assured Kenyans of his administration’s commitment to deliver their mandate.

Speaking after a church service in Khwisero, Kakamega County, the Head of State underscored that inflation had gone down, therefore the government was now shifting focus on delivering development commitments to Kenyans.

“Inflation has gone down and now we are focused on delivering our development commitments to the people of Kenya,” he said.
