Kitui County Governor Charity Ngilu has been hospitalised at Nairobi Hospital after contracting COVID-19.
In a statement to journalists on Tuesday, July 27 her Machakos counterpart Dr. Alfred Mutua confirmed that Ngilu is indeed seeking treatment at Nairobi.
Ngilu’s recent hospitalisation comes after ODM’s Director of Communications Philip Etale revealed that he tested positive for the virus.
In the morning of Monday, July 26, Etale took to his Facebook page to warn Kenyans of the fourth Covid-19 Wave.
“Dear friends, I am battling a second attack of Covid-19 since Monday last week, my body was acting funny with a deep cough and blocked nose and headache,” Etale said.
He further explained how he thought he was suffering from flu and purchased a cough syrup and antibiotics over the counter only for the coughing to worsen.
“However, the condition worsened to the extent that I couldn’t sleep. My body weakened by day forcing me to visit the Agakhan Hospital for tests,” Etale said.
Etale’s revelation comes after Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior raised concern over the observation of Covid-19 health protocols.
“I’m I the only one who thinks that the security agencies are turning a blind eye on a group of politicians conducting public meetings without little regard to the current protocols?” Mutula said on Monday.
