Gachagua urges Nyandarua residents to back his presidential bid to oust Ruto
The Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader, Rigathi Gachagua, has called on Nyandarua residents to rally behind his 2027 presidential bid.
Speaking during public engagement at Mawingu in Kipipiri Constituency, Nyandarua County, on Sunday, September 7, 2025, the former Deputy President vowed to end President William Ruto’s leadership.
Gachagua, in addition, accused Ruto of engaging in divide-and-rule politics aimed at weakening Mt Kenya’s unity.
“Watu wa Nyandarua tujikinge sana huyu Ruto anataka kutugawanya ndio atukalie, sasa nataka kuuliza mniunge mkono nisimame raisi nifukuze huyu Ruto,”Gachagua applead.
As Gachagua plans to unseat Ruto in the next General Election, Kenya Kwanza leaders have vowed to secure his re-election, urging the youth to register as voters to boost their chances.
Gachagua on unity
Although Gachagua reaffirmed that the United Opposition Coalition remains united in the bid to unseat Ruto, Mathira MP Eric Wamumbi has a different opinion.
He says the reality is different, citing Cleophas Malala’s previous opposition to the appointment of their spokesperson as proof of disunity.
Voting pattern
The second deputy president, additionally, emphasised that his new party would field candidates at all levels.
He urged locals to support his DCP by voting for candidates from the governorship all the way to the county representatives in the next General Election.
The former DP further claimed that Ruto took advantage of their lack of a political party during the 2022 elections, citing how they formed the current government without a strong party of their own.
“Pahali huyu Ruto alituweza ni kuenda harusi na gari ya mtu mwengine, tulienda bila chama sasa tuko na chama chetu kinaitwa DCP, nataka mtuchagulie governor, senator, MP, MCAs, na women representatives wa chama cha DCP,” he urged.

Unseating Ruto
It is worth noting that Gachagua had boldly declared himself the frontrunner in Kenya’s 2027 presidential race, framing his campaign around faith, integrity, and national healing.
The assertion comes nearly a year after his dramatic impeachment in October 2024, which he described as a politically motivated move by Ruto.
Speaking in a CBN interview on September 4, 2025, he said, “I am the frontrunner (for president) and have the best chance of winning (in 2027).”
As he mobilises supporters at home and abroad, the 2027 race promises to be both fiercely contested and closely watched.
