Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has launched a scathing attack on President William Ruto, claiming that State House has turned into the headquarters of corruption and bribery in Kenya.

Speaking during a church service on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at St. Peter’s ACK Cathedral in Ong’ata Rongai, Gachagua said that State House is an epicentre of corruption, where bribes are issued to delegates to persuade them to support Ruto’s agenda.

The DCP leader went on to cite examples of the delegations from Kiambu and Meru that went to the State House, and each was given Ksh 10,000 to shift their support on the political narrative.

“State House sasa ndio pahali pa corruption and bribery, nothing is happening in this country. It’s corruption everywhere. The Statehouse is the scene of crime of corruption,” Gachagua claimed.

“This week, over 5000 people from Kiambu were called into State House, each bribed Ksh 10k to change their stand on mlima narrative, after the Kiambu, Meru delegation where also given Ksh 10k.”

Gachagua further urged Kenyans to take the money, but not to do what it was meant to influence them to do in 2027.

“Take the money, but don’t do what that money wants you to do in 2027.”

Affordable housing

The second deputy president, in addition, warned people not to waste their resources buying houses, saying that in two years, when a new government formed under the opposition takes power, all houses built by the current administration on grabbed land would be returned to their rightful owners, who would then start collecting rent.

According to Gachagua, the said piece of land was the one being used for the construction of affordable housing by the Kenya Kwanza regime.

“To be honest with you, don’t dare waste your resources buying those houses, in two years time when the new government is formed under the opposition, all houses built by this current government on grabbed land shall be returned to the rightful owners, to start collecting rent,” he warned.

“Those houses that are being built are not affordable housing. They are commercial houses. We want to be kind to investors who want to buy those 2,000 houses in advance. Don’t waste your money.”
