Ruto tears into his opponents, urges Kiambu leaders to stick with visionary leaders

President William Ruto has urged grassroots leaders from Kiambu County to unite behind visionary leadership, warning against being divided by opponents who lack a concrete plan for the country’s development.
Speaking during a meeting with the leaders on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at the State House, Nairobi, Ruto criticised his political rivals, saying they have no strategy for key sectors such as agriculture, education, and the economy.
Ruto urged leaders to focus on practical solutions that benefit citizens rather than being swayed by political rhetoric.
“Nawaomba tushirikiene, nawaomba tuungane, tusikubali kugawanywa na watu ambao hawana mpango yoyote, they have no plan hawajui tutapanga aje kilimo, hawajui tutapanga namna gani masomo, hawajui tutapanga uchumi na ukiwauliza wanasema one term, Ruto must go,” Ruto said.

In addition, the head of state asked whether the people who decide on the matters of MCAs, MPs, Senators, Governors, or the President are the officials themselves who make speeches, or the citizens.
He added that it is the citizens who ultimately make the decisions, and if someone given a job fails, they should be removed from office
“Wenye kuamua mambo ya MCAs, mbunge ama senator ama govenor ama rais ni hawa watu wanatuimbia ama ni wananchi? si ni nyinyi ndio mtaamua? kama mtu mumpatatia kazi na ameshindwa si ande akiendanga?” he added.

Re-election
Additionally, Ruto said that he would come with his scorecard during the campaign season for the 2027 elections, adding that on the day of the decision, the citizens would still make the final choice.
“Mimi nitakuja na score card yangu, mca akuje na yake, governor, senator na mbunge na yake, si ni nyinyi ndio mtaamua?na siku ya kuamua bado,” he stated.

During the meeting, Ruto also said that through bold and deliberate decisions, his government is delivering the largest market development in Kenya’s history, including 30 modern markets in Kiambu County for KSh4.5 billion, and is also building 15,000 housing units in the county at a total cost of KSh30 billion.
“Through bold, deliberate, and resolute decisions, we are delivering the largest market development in Kenya’s history, including 30 modern markets in Kiambu County alone at a cost of Ksh4.5 billion. In addition, we are building 15,000 housing units in the county at a total cost of Ksh30 billion,” Ruto stated.
“We are also breaking new ground in infrastructure. A new 10,000-seater stadium will be built in Thika town. We will also complete the 240km Mau Mau roads in the Kiambu section, and dual the Muthaiga-Ndumberi road at Ksh22 billion and the Northern Bypass for which we have allocated Ksh20 billion.”
