The Democracy for Citizens’ Party (DCP) Leader, Rigathi Gachagua, has revealed how his exit from the office of the Deputy President has brought ease to him and his spouse, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi.

Speaking during the Ordination of Pastor Dorcas Rigathi on Saturday, November 15, 2025, Gachagua recalled how he could barely spend time with his partner as they were busy with work.

On his part, Gachagua confessed how the exit was a pleasant move for his family, revealing how happy they are.

“Our humiliating exit from office has been very pleasant to us because we have moved on, and we are happier people,” Gachagua said.

Gachagua’s biggest regret

He went on describing how the only regret he has is that his spouse is no longer able to support a huge number of people under her boychild programme, which she ran while she served as the spouse of the Deputy President.

“The only regret that I have that we left office is that Dorcas is not able to help as many boys as she would have wanted because when she was in office, she saved many boys from death,” he said.

Gachagua recalled how passionate Dorcas has been in her campaign championing the boychild in the community, recalling her days while she was in office.

At the time, the former deputy president revealed how the Boy Child Initiative was part of their “Good Morning” conversations at his home.

“This great woman of God, when we were in office, was so passionate about the boychild. I saw very little of her. I would go to work, she would also go to work, we would meet in the evening sometimes, she would find me asleep, and when she woke up in the morning, she was just talking about the boychild,” Gachagua recalled.

In addition, Gachagua further revealed the efforts he keeps in ensuring she supports her ministry in supporting the boychild initiative by contributing up to 30 per cent of his income to Dorcas.

“She is not able to do as much as she would have wanted; we support her as a family, probably 20 to 30 per cent of what she would have wanted to do,” he noted.
