Gachagua and family celebrate son’s birthday in a low-key evening day out
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and his wife, Reverend Dorcas Rigathi, threw a low-key birthday party for one of their sons, Kevin Gachagua.
In a statement on Saturday night, November 29, 2025, the former DP confirmed the party where his family convened at a social place to celebrate.
“I always thank God for the gift of family. Once more, our family gathers this evening to celebrate Kevin on his birthday,” Gachagua’s statement read in part.
“Happy Birthday, Kevin,” it added.

Heaping praises
In his birthday note, Gachagua praised Kevin, disclosing that he plays an integral role in keeping the family glued.
“You are such wonderful guy who takes great care of us and checking on us all the time to make sure we are okay,” Gachagua wrote.

Gachagua has been married to Reverend Dorcas for 35 years, with whom they are blessed with two sons. The firstborn son, Kelvin Gachagua, who is celebrating his birthday, is a software engineer.
The second-born son is called Keith Keino, who is a medical doctor but helps the politician run his family business.
Gachaguas embracing birthdays
The Gachaguas have embraced birthdays, forming part of their tradition in recent times.
On October 18, 2025, Gachagua celebrated Reverend Dorcas’ 60th birthday in a rather emotive and reflective tone. In a well-thought-out celebratory note, the former second in command reflected on his impeachment tribulations and how Pastor Dorcas cancelled all birthday plans to stay by his bedside as he fought for his life at Karen Hospital.
Gachagua was admitted to the hospital after he failed to testify at his impeachment hearing at the Senate, with his legal team stating that he suddenly fell ill during lunch break.

“We thank God for the gift of family. Happy birthday to the woman of our lives. Kevin, Keith, and I cherish your love, care, and affection. We thank God for this day as we celebrate your birthday. This day a year ago, we were huddled in a hospital room, sick, humiliated, devastated, confused, betrayed, beaten, and abandoned, and you were in tears on your 59th birthday,” Gachagua’s statement read in part.
“Today, we thank God for His mercy, kindness, and favour. A year later, God has put a smile back on our faces, and our home is full of joy. As we celebrate your 60th birthday, our family stands as a clear testimony that God is no man,” Gachagua stated while sharing photos of two sons, Kevin and Keith, in a jovial mood.
In his note, Gachagua indicated that his family was humiliated, betrayed, and abandoned at the height of the impeachment hearing, which coincided with Pastor Dorcas’ birthday.
