Friday blackout to affect 4 counties including Nairobi

Kenya Power has announced a planned electricity outage that will affect parts of four counties on Friday, September 6, 2024.

The utility company said the temporary blackout is part of routine network maintenance.

In Nairobi, residents of Kilimani and nearby areas will experience the outage from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The affected locations include Kilimani Road, Menelik Road, Kirichwa Road, Adams Arcade Shopping Centre, Ndemi Lane, Muringa Road, and Elgeyo Marakwet Road, along with adjacent customers.

In Kakamega County, the blackout will affect Khwisero from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The affected areas include Khwisero Market, Mulwanda Market, Khumusalaba, Emukhusu, Khumailo, Kushiku Market, and Emusungure Market, as well as neighbouring customers.

Residents of Gendia, Kosele, and Namba in Homa Bay County will also experience the outage. The interruption will last from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and will impact Gendia, Kambira, Nyahera, Gendia Water Pump, Liera, Ngoche, Nyafare, Simbiri, Otula, Kosele, Nyalgosi, Kiwiro, Namba Saye, Karabok, Kawere, Ongamo, Yala Kotieno, Namba Raeli, Kachieni, Nyatwere, Waradho, and the surrounding areas.

In Kisii County, the blackout will occur from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, affecting Suneka, Gesonso, and Iterio. Specifically, areas such as Gesonso Police Station, Riamasagra, Iterio Complex, Suneka Market, Suneka Police Station, Ekerorano, and Riana Dispensary will be impacted.
