Former CAS Mercy Mwangangi shortlisted for SHA CEO position

Former Health Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Mercy Mwangangi is among the 12 candidates that have been shortlisted by the Social Health Authority (SHA) to take up the role of the authority’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) position.
A memo issued and signed by the SHA board chairperson, Abdi Mohamed, invited them to attend interviews at the Social Health Authority Headquarters, 10th floor boardroom, on varying dates starting from April 7, 2025.
Acting SHA CEO Robert Mbarani Ingasira has also been shortlisted.
Other candidates on the shortlist are Kennedy Odhiambo Akello, Roberts Eloto Abok, Dr. Serem Kimutai Edward, Wario Boru Tore, Dr. Agrippina Njoki Fernendes, Abdullahi Sheikh Abdirahman, Dr. Musa Nyandusi Lwegado, Dr. Samson Kuhora Kairang’a, Dinah Jemelly Kirwa, and Kandie Ng’ochoch.
Mwangangi’s public limelight
Mwangangi made headlines during the COVID-19 period, with her playing a pivotal role in combating the pandemic. She alternated with the then Health CS Mutahi Kagwe in giving daily COVID-19 updates.
She will be interviewed on April 7 at 10:00 am, after Kennedy Odhiambo Akello, who will face the interviewing panel at 9:00 am. Ingasira will then follow at 12:00 pm, with Dr. Serem and Wario closing the first day of the interview at 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm, respectively.
The candidates have also been advised to report at the interview venue at least 30 minutes before the scheduled time.
“The shortlisted candidates are invited to attend interview at the Social Health Authority Headquarters, 10th Floor Boardroom on dates and time specified in the schedule below,” the memo read in part.
“Shortlisted applicants should report at the venue at least thirty (30) minutes before the scheduled time.”
Public participation
Members of the public have been invited to avail any adverse information relating to any of the shortlisted applicants to the SHA Chairperson.
“Members of the public are invited to avail any adverse information relating to any of the shortlisted applicants to the Chairperson, Social Health Authority Board, SHA Building, 10th Floor, Nairobi, or through email to recruitment@sha.go.ke so as to be received on or before 4th April 2025 at 5.00pm,” the notice read.
All the shortlisted candidates have been requested to present original documents, including their national identity cards, academic and professional certificates, and valid clearances from institutions such as the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), Directorate of Criminal Investigations, and Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC). Additionally, candidates with degrees from foreign universities must provide letters of recognition from the Commission for University Education (CUE).
The 12 were shortlisted from a total of 92 applicants who expressed their interest in the SHA CEO role.
