Ex-UDA top official Arap Kirwa dares Ruto to rig 2027 poll

Former United Democratic Alliance Vice Chairman Arap Kirwa has dared President William Ruto and his allies to attempt to steal votes in the 2027 General Election, insisting that nothing will prevent Ruto’s defeat due to what he described as a huge margin.
Speaking to a local radio station on Friday, August 29, 2025, Kirwa openly dismissed the government’s chances of survival at the ballot, saying Kenyans have already lost trust in the current administration.
“I am happy, the current regime stands no chance, whether they are going to steal 2 million votes, there will be a huge gap between them and the alternative leadership.
“We want to encourage them not to steal because you might still end up losing the poll,” Kirwa stated.
The former UDA official went further to caution that attempts to manipulate election figures would only expose the regime to public ridicule.
“So please, don’t do that because you will tell us how in this particular region you have gotten 3 million votes, yet we know the population of that region is less than 2 million.

“To bring 1 million votes from outside this country is going to be a logistical nightmare,” he added.
Advice to Ruto allies
Kirwa noted that the ruling side has been overestimating its influence and underestimating the frustrations Kenyans face.
According to him, the economy, governance failures and political betrayals will weigh heavily on Ruto’s re-election bid, regardless of the tactics used.
“I am advising them that you will lose the election whether you import 2 million votes or not,” he concluded, stressing that the will of the people cannot be overturned by forced outcomes.
Kirwa’s sharp attack comes as opposition-aligned leaders continue to build momentum ahead of the 2027 polls, with several presidential hopefuls already declaring their interest.
His remarks also tie into ongoing national debates about electoral integrity, especially after concerns were raised in recent months over political interference in key independent institutions.
By daring the Head of State to rig, Kirwa has reignited conversations about election credibility, voter trust and the preparedness of the electoral body to safeguard democracy in Kenya’s next high-stakes vote.
