Enough is enough! Passaris condemns content creators for sexual harassment of girls

Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has raised an alarm over young men who film themselves sexually harassing girls under the guise of creating online content.

Her remarks follow a wave of disturbing videos circulating on social media, showing groups of boys cornering and violating girls while laughing and recording the acts.

In an X post on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, Passaris said she was shocked by the clips.

“I have come across several videos of young men sexually harassing girls in the name of content. It is shocking that such acts are being viewed as entertainment,” the X post read in part.

She described the scenes as traumatic and heartbreaking, questioning how a girl is expected to defend herself when surrounded by a crowd of boys cheering on the abuse.

“I cannot begin to imagine the trauma a girl goes through in such an ordeal, surrounded by boys who, instead of protecting or defending her dignity, stand aside and entertain this diabolic abomination. What then happens if she tries to defend herself?” she posed.

According to Passaris, the rise of such incidents exposes the urgent need to control harmful online behaviour. She linked the trend to this year’s theme for the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence: UNiTE to End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls. She said the theme speaks directly to the growing danger of digital spaces becoming platforms for abuse rather than creativity.

Appeal to DCI

The legislator has also called on law enforcement to take immediate action, urging the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to move quickly and arrest the boys involved in the videos.

“I am calling on the @DCI_Kenya to apprehend these boys immediately,” she wrote.

She warned that no one should be allowed to harm others and hide behind online fame or trending content.

“Let this serve as a warning to anyone who assaults another person, especially under the guise of content creation. Enough is enough!” Passaris declared.

Passaris’ call adds pressure on authorities to address digital violence and ensure that social media platforms do not become breeding grounds for abuse.

The Nairobi Woman Rep emphasised that protecting girls, both online and offline, must remain a priority for communities, platforms, and law enforcement agencies alike.
