Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 52-year-old woman, who was on Wednesday found dead in her rented house in Sunrise estate in Njoro, Nakuru County.
The woman, an employee of Egerton University, was last seen in public on Friday, February 14.
Neighbours told K24 Digital that they suspected the woman, identified as Ruth Kinyua, could have been harmed after she “went missing for days”.
And, on Wednesday, February 19, when they knocked on her door, no one opened, forcing them to alert police, who arrived at Ruth’s house and broke down her door.
Ruth’s body was found lying on the floor, with her hands and legs tied using a rope. She had also been stabbed in different parts of her body, police said.
Next to Ruth’s body, was a kitchen knife believed to have been used in killing her.
The woman’s thighs and private parts were doused in acid, police said.
Ruth’s body was taken to Egerton University Funeral Home as investigations into her death continue.
The incident was confirmed by Nakuru County police commander, Stephen Matu.
