An Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) investigator and his driver have been charged with three counts of receiving a bribe from a traffic police officer.

Richard Pkemei Topila and Kipyegon Kosgei were alleged that on diverse dates between April 12 and April 17, 2020, while at the Kikuyu township within Kiambu County, solicited Sh220,000 bribe from a traffic policeman.

The EACC staff solicited the bribe from the policeman, George Manyala, allegedly to assist him to terminate a bribery investigation against him and other traffic officers attached to Kingeero Police Station.

The two, who appeared before Nairobi Anti-Corruption Court, denied the allegations.

Nairobi Magistrate Douglas Ogoti released the duo on a cash bail of Sh150,000 or Sh300,000 bond.

In addition, the court ordered the Immigration director to ensure the two suspects do not leave the jurisdiction of the court.

Mr. Ogoti also cautioned the duo against interfering with witnesses in the case or risk cancellation of their bond terms.
