Dorcas Oduor sworn in as Attorney General

Dorcas Oduor has been sworn in as the new Attorney General.

With her confirmed appointment, Oduor makes history as Kenya’s first female AG.

Taking her oath of office at State House, Nairobi, Dorcas vowed to uphold the constitution and remain faithful to the country.

She also promised to undertake her roles with honour and respect as she serves the people.

“I, Dorcas Agik Oduor, being appointed as the Attorney General of Kenya do swear that I will at all times be faithful to the republic of Kenya, I will obey, respect and uphold this constitution of Kenya and other laws of the republic. I will truly serve the people in the office of the Attorney General with honour and dignity,” she said.

Oduor brings on board over 30 years of experience in law.

The seasoned lawyer currently serving as an advocate of the High Court of Kenya holds a Masters of Arts in International Conflict Management (UoN), a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree (UoN) and a Diploma in Law from Kenya School of Law.

She has previously served as Head of Economic, International and Emerging Crimes Departments at the ODPP and Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Announcing her appointment, Ruto acknowledged Oduor’s efforts for the growth and development of Kenyan law. He also hailed her for her professional demeanour and commitment to upholding the rule of law.

“Senior Counsel Dorcas Oduor has demonstrated unimpeachable integrity, impressive professional competence, and steadfast commitment to the rule of law,” he said.
