David Musila has resigned as the Chairman of National Museums of Kenya’s Board of Directors to run for the Kitui governor’s seat.
The former Kitui senator stated that his resignation was in compliance with the circular that was sent to public officers by the Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua, instructing them to vacate office on or before February 8, 2022.
“I have resigned from the Office of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of National Museums of Kenya with effect from 8th February 2022. I shall be vying for the position of Governor, Kitui County,” his resignation letter read in part.
Musila thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta for according him the opportunity to serve in his government. He extended his gratitude to CS Amina Mohammed for appointing him to the Board of Directors, National Museums of Kenya.
Musila’s entry into the Kitui gubernatorial race will pit him against the incumbent county head Charity Ngilu and former county boss Julius Malombe, who has also exited his government job to run for the seat.
