Caleb Amisi: I’m the only MP who has never met Ruto

Saboti Member of Parliament (MP) Caleb Amisi has made a bold revelation, claiming he is possibly the only elected leader in Kenya who has never met President William Ruto, not even once in his life.
Speaking during an interview with media personality Steve Thompson Maghana, alias Oga Obinna, on the night of Monday, August 4, 2025, Amisi said he has never met the head of state since he was born.
“I am the only Member of Parliament in the Republic of Kenya, most likely the only elected leader who has never ever met one William Ruto since I was born. Show me any photo or video,” Amisi said.
Amisi on meeting Gachagua
The legislator further noted that he has only seen former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua from a distance, during a recent opposition rally in Kitale, where they addressed supporters from different vehicles.
As for Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, Amisi says their paths have never crossed either.
“The only time I have also met Rigathi Gachagua is when he came to Kitale during a rally, and I only saw him at a distance because we were speaking from different vehicles. I have also never met Deputy President Kithure Kindiki,” he said.
“I am not a person you can just call for no good reason. I see people being called to the State House. Mimi siezi enda ju I normally ask questions before I go.”
Uhuru-Raila handshake era
Amisi also revisited the political dynamics during the handshake era, when former President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga enjoyed a close working relationship. While many ODM MPs reportedly engaged with Ruto during that period, Amisi said he refrained.
“During the handshake time when we had Uhuru and Raila Odinga, all members used to meet Uhuru and Ruto, but I would always tell Raila that he had not asked me to meet Ruto, and he would always say that we are not in government. I am very loyal,” Amisi argued.
He also claimed that several politicians from his Trans Nzoia backyard were invited to secret night meetings with Ruto in Sugoi, but he was consistently excluded — apparently due to his probing nature.
“People would secretly meet Ruto in Sugoi at night, and they would call every politician from Trans Nzoia apart from Caleb Amisi because they know I will ask questions,” he said.
