Body of Kenyan police officer killed in Haiti arrives at JKIA
The body of Kenyan police officer Corporal Kennedy Mutuku Nzuve, who tragically lost his life in Haiti, has arrived in Kenya.
In the early hours of Saturday, September 27, 2025, fellow officers and religious leaders received the body at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. The body was then placed in a vehicle.

Corporal Nzuve’s death was confirmed by the Multinational Security Support Mission in Haiti on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
He was serving as part of a recovery operation along the Kenscoff–Pétion-Ville road at Perlerin 9 when the fatal accident occurred.
“In that moment, the Multinational Security Support Mission in Haiti lost one of its finest officers. Corporal Kennedy Mutuku Nzuve was pronounced dead at Lambert Santé Hospital in Pétion-Ville,” the statement read.
According to MSS, the accident happened when one of the two MaxxPro vehicles involved in the operation developed mechanical problems while towing the other.
The collision resulted in the death of Corporal Nzuve and a civilian, while eight other officers sustained injuries. Three of the injured remain in serious condition and are expected to be medically evacuated to the Dominican Republic for specialised care.

The National Police Service expressed its commitment to the safety and security of all Kenyans and those under its protection abroad.
“NPS remains resolute in its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all Kenyans, residents, visitors, and their property. Furthermore, we are dedicated to achieving the mandate of the Multinational Security Support Mission in Haiti in full compliance with international law,” the service stated.
This comes days after the NPS had confirmed the death of a Kenyan police officer, Benedict Kabiru, who had been reported missing while serving under the Kenyan-led Multinational Security Support Mission in Haiti. The officer went missing on March 25, 2025, following an ambush on the Carrefour Paye-Savien main supply route in the Pont-Sonde area of Haiti’s Artibonite Department.
In a statement on Thursday, September 25, 2025, the NPS said that Kabiru’s family had been promptly notified and has been receiving regular updates.
“Since then, the Multinational Security Support Mission, in collaboration with the Haitian National Police, has been conducting a meticulous search and rescue operation to locate the missing officer,” the statement read.
The NPS extended its condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Kabiru.
“The NPS extends its deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the fallen officer and assures them of its unwavering and continued support during this time of profound sorrow,” it said.
