Barrack Muluka: ODM is slowly imploding from within

Political analyst Barrack Muluka now says it is a matter of wait and see before the ODM Party starts to implode.
Speaking to K24 TV on Friday, August 1, 2025, the outspoken political pundit said the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is currently struggling with internal confusion, leadership fatigue, and public doubt, which he believes are signs of a slow collapse.
“ODM is in a slow puncture. And Mr Odinga himself has been a punctured politician for some time now. When he joined ranks with Mr William Ruto, he started accelerating towards a complete flat,” Muluka said.
Muluka, who has long been known for his sharp political commentary, added that the party’s recent moves have left many of its supporters unsure about its direction.
He said the once-vibrant opposition party has been reduced to a shadow of itself, especially after its surprise shift in aligning with the same administration it once strongly criticised.
The analyst also placed responsibility on ODM leader Raila Odinga, saying his recent political choices have weakened both his image and the stability of the party he leads.
Raila’s decision questioned
“One way or the other, ODM will implode. This is not just about the party’s current direction, but also the repeated changes in stance that leave supporters confused. People are asking: What does Raila stand for now?” Muluka said.
Muluka noted that the growing public frustration is not just about party politics, but also about a lack of trust. He argued that leaders must remain consistent to maintain public support, and that shifting alliances too often can erode a party’s core identity.
As ODM continues to defend its recent cooperation with President Ruto’s government, critics like Muluka believe this could be the beginning of the end unless strong, clear leadership re-emerges within its ranks.
So far, Raila Odinga has not directly responded to the remarks made by Muluka.
