‘Babu Owino was favoured’ – Salasya criticizes data showing MP as best performer

Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has challenged the results of a recent survey conducted by research firm Infotrak, which ranked Embakasi East MP Babu Owino as the best-performing lawmaker with a score of 72 per cent.
Salasya, who was ranked among the top five legislators in the survey with a score of 61 per cent, expressed dissatisfaction with the findings. He argued that his achievements in one year match what Babu Owino has accomplished in two years, suggesting that he should have ranked higher.
Taking to his Instagram page on Thursday, February 13, 2025, the legislator claimed that Babu Owino was favoured. He asserted that, based on practical evaluation, he should have outperformed Owino by at least ten points.
To support his claims, Salasya invited Infotrak to conduct another assessment in Mumias East to verify his contributions to the constituency. He suggested that a fresh evaluation would provide a more accurate reflection of his performance compared to his counterparts.
“Infotrak Research Kenya favoured Babu Owino against me . If we go practically am supposed to defeat Babu by 10 points because if I count what I have done within one year it is what Babu has done for 2 years. I am inviting Infotrak to come again to Mumias East,” Salasya stated.

On Wednesday, February 12, 2025, Infotrak CEO Angela Ambitho praised MP Babu Owino for his proactive approach and consistent efforts to assess his performance through the firm.
“Babu is very clear about numbers…Every quarter he engages us to find out how his constituents feel about his leadership and areas he can improve on,” she stated.

According to the survey, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro secured the second position with a 71% approval rating. Kabuchai MP Joseph Kalasinga and Kathiani MP Robert Mbui followed closely, tying for third place with a score of 62%.
Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba, Sirisia’s John Waluke, Mumias East legislator Peter Salasya, and Mbooni MP Erastus Nzioka completed the top five rankings, each earning a 61% performance rating.
