Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi has criticised the Kenya Kwanza administration for a lack of ‘big’ ideas to run the government.
In a post on X on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, Abdullahi also castigated the government for a lack of visionary leaders to drive sizzling narratives and execute the ideas.
“Governments need big ideas, sizzling narratives and visionary men/women to drive it. The last big idea of President Ruto’s government was the hustler funds!” Abdullahi stated.
This comes days after a survey by Infotrak revealed that President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua had recorded drops in their performance, especially in communication.

Ruto was rated on four issues including the ability to effectively communicate what the government was doing, competency to deliver on the assigned tasks, addressing issues affecting Kenyans and success in improving how things are done in his office.
48 per cent of the respondents were impressed with the communications Ruto’s administration gave concerning the government’s action plans while only 44 per cent of Kenyans polled believed Ruto had changed how things were done in his office.
Similarly, some 55 per cent of Kenyans said the government failed to effectively address the issues affecting Kenyans, with the other 45 per cent expressing satisfaction with the state’s response.
Also, only 47 per cent of all Kenyans who responded to the pollster believed President Ruto has the competence to execute tasks assigned to his office.
Gachagua scores D
Gachagua’s performance dropped from 48 per cent in March 2024 to 42 per cent in May. The research company gave the second in command grade D (plain) in May.
The opinion poll pointed out that Gachagua got a mean score of 42 per cent in communicating to Kenyans about what his office is doing.
Gachagua also scored 42 per cent on his ability to execute his assigned roles and 41 per cent on addressing issues facing Kenyans.
Issues of concern
The survey identified the cost of living, unemployment, transport, infrastructure, and roads as the top issues of concern to Kenyans.
According to the survey released on Thursday, June 6, 2024, the cost of living took the lead at 49 per cent, followed by unemployment at 30 per cent and transport, infrastructure, and roads at 22 per cent.
