A 40-year-old man was on Thursday night arrested for allegedly defiling his niece in Kasipul, Homa Bay County.

The suspect was arrested at his home in Kawuon Auko village in Kasipul for allegedly defiling the 11-year-old girl repeatedly.

The suspect is currently detained at Oyugis Police Station.

Concerned neighbors informed the area chief, Pius Odoyo, after noticing that the girl had difficulty walking.

After questioning her, the girl revealed to the neighbours what had been happening to her.

The minor, police said, is an orphan who has been with her father’s brother since her parents died.

A doctor’s report confirmed that indeed the girl had been defiled and police said the suspect will be arraigned on Monday, January 4.
