Turkana MCA Michael Egialan is dead
Lakezone ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Michael Egialan Ekwar is dead.
While confirming the MCA’s demise, the Turkana County Assembly through the Speaker Christopher Nakuleu noted that Egialan who had been battling oesophagus cancer for more than a year died while undergoing treatment at St Lukes Hospital in Eldoret.
Nakuleu mourned the departed leader as a dedicated public servant who made significant contributions to the county and nation.
“On behalf of all members and staff of the County Assembly and staff of the County Assembly and indeed on my own behalf, I wish to convey condolences to the family of the late Hon Michael Egialan, the people of Lakeone ward and all his relatives and friends during this difficult time of mourning their departed leader. As the county assembly, we assure the family of our support during this period of great sorrow,” he said.

Egialan was elected as Lakeward MCA in 2022, during his tenure, the departed leader played an active role in the passage of various legislations and policies that aimed to uplift the community.
Apart from serving as MCA the deceased was the Vice Chairperson of the Committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Pastoral Economy.
Prior to being MCA, Egialan served as an Assistant Chief at Kokurosub location before moving to become the chief for Ngisiger location.
“Upon his retirement from the provincial administration, Hon Egialan joined politics and was elected as the chairperson of CDF for Turkana North constituency for ten years. During his tenure, he played a crucial role in spearheading projects and initiatives aimed at improving the lives of our people,” the Assembly added.
