Shakira and Burna Boy to perform ‘Dai Dai’ at 2026 FIFA World Cup opening ceremony

Global music stars Shakira and Burna Boy are set to perform “Dai Dai” at the opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Mexico City.
FIFA confirmed their appearance as part of a star-studded lineup for the ceremony.
In a statement shared on its social media platforms on Friday, June 5, 2026, FIFA revealed that the pair will join a star-studded lineup at the tournament’s opening ceremony, which will take place ahead of the opening match in Mexico City.
“Dai Dai 🎶@shakira and @burnaboygram will join a star-studded lineup on the global stage at the #FIFAWorldCup opening ceremony in Mexico City!” FIFA World Cup officials announced.
The performance will mark another major World Cup moment for Shakira, who has become closely associated with football’s biggest tournament through previous hits such as the iconic World Cup anthem “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)”.

“Dai Dai” was recently unveiled as the official FIFA World Cup 2026 song.
According to FIFA, the track combines the global sounds of Shakira and Burna Boy in a celebration of football, culture and unity. The song is part of the official FIFA World Cup 2026 album and is available on major streaming platforms.
FIFA also noted that royalties from the song will support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, an initiative aimed at expanding access to quality education and football opportunities for children around the world.
