A female student was hacked to death by a neighbour in Kaptalam Ewalel Chapchap ward, Baringo Central on Wednesday, September 7, 2022.

The suspect Thomas Kipsoto, 26, who is at large, is alleged to have hacked the 18-year-old girl to death with a panga.

While confirming the incident, Ewalel Chapchap Chief Patrick Kiprop told K24Digital that the incident occurred around 9 am.

“At around 9 am, we heard loud distress calls from the teen’s home which subsided after a while, her mother however rushed after relating the screams to her daughter’s, upon reaching, she met her daughter lying lifeless at the compound, that’s when we got alerted and went to the scene,” the chief said.

“After getting to the scene, we were really shocked, we didn’t imagine such thing could happen, we found one shoe within the scene with the partner in Kipsoto’s house which led us to identify the assailant,” he noted

Kiprop regretted the heinous act done to the high school student saying that the body had a cut on the neck, a fracture on the upper right hand and another cut on the left hand.

Police officers from the Kabarnet Police Station arrived at the scene of the crime and moved the body to the Baringo County Referral Hospital (BCRH) mortuary.
