Azimio la Umoja – One Kenya coalition presidential candidate Raila Odinga would win Presidency in round one of voting with 53 per cent of the votes in case the election is held today, a new poll by TIFA has shown.
In its final release ahead of election, the pollster has looked at two scenarios; (a) with undecided voters and (b) without undecided voters.
In the scenario where the undecided voters are excluded, the Kenya Kwanza Alliance candidate William Ruto comes second with 45 per cent, as Raila boasts of a whopping 53 per cent.
In the scenario where the undecided voters are included in the poll, Raila would win with 49 per cent of the votes, while Ruto would come second with 41 per cent.
In both scenarios, Roots Party candidate Prof George Wajackoyah would win two per cent of the votes while Agano Party candidate David Mwaure would get 0.2 per cent of the votes.
Raila commands regional support
Raila commands majority support in seven out of nine regions, including Coast (67 percent), Lower Easter (64 percent), Nairobi (55 percent), Northern (55 per cent), Nyanza (75 per cent), South Rift (51 per cent) and Western (61 per cent).
Ruto commands majority support in two regions including Mt Kenya at 62 percent and Central Rift at 75 percent.
More Kenyans identify with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), the party led by Ruto than with any other party (38%), though Raila’s ODM’s popularity is a close second at 32 per cent.
