The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party is mourning the death of one of its devoted members in Malindi, Mama Zahra.

ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga termed her as an unshakeable pillar of the party in Lamu County and an advisor at the national level.

“I learnt of the passing on of Mama Zahra with utmost shock and deep sorrow. Mama Zahra was a highly valued and respected member of our team not only here in Lamu County but nationally. On behalf of the entire membership of our Party and on my own behalf, I wish to express our most sincere sympathies to you Mama Zahra’s family, her colleagues and friends. I wish you the fortitude to bear this great loss.” Raila stated.

“Mama Zahra was an active, conscientious and dedicated leader of our Party, who was always more focused on the good of the people and our Party than on her own self-aggrandizement. She was the unshakeable pillar of our Party in Lamu County and advisor at national level.”

The ODM supremo says she embodied the values of diligence, dedication, and selflessness, serving the party with unwavering commitment.

“Indeed, the void her unexpected departure has created in the Assembly and Party leadership is already visible and will be difficult for us in ODM to fill. Her contributions as a leader were invaluable, prioritizing the well-being of our people and the advancement of our party over personal ambition. Mama Zahra’s absence leaves a palpable void in both the Assembly and our party leadership, one that will be challenging to fill,” Raila said.

“In January this year, Mama Zahra accompanied me as we embarked on a recruitment drive in Lamu for new ODM members. She was her usual self and full of energy, giving instructions and crossing the ocean with us for two days. Please know that we shall continue to stand by you. For those of us that had the privilege of working closely with her, we were humbled by her kindness and compassion to everyone around her. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.”

In a statement, the Orange party termed her as a conscientious and dedicated leader of the party, who was always more focused on the good of the people and the party.

“We have lost big. We shall miss you Hon. Mama Zahra. Mama Zahra was an active, conscientious and dedicated leader of our Party, who was always more focused on the good of the people and our Party than on her own self-aggrandizement. ODM was you and you were ODM. Lamu and Coast will miss you,” ODM stated.

Early this year, she was among the vocal party leaders who led a recruitment drive in Malindi for the opposition party.
