ODM’s South Gem Ward candidate dies after short illness

The Orange Democratic Movement(ODM) Party is in mourning following the demise of the party’s candidate for the South Gem ward in Siaya county.

Nick Wanga died after a short illness at a Kisumu hospital while undergoing treatment.

The family spokesman Abala Wanga who is the Kisumu city manager confirms.

The deceased fell ill after attending a rally about a week ago and was admitted before he succumbed.

ODM leaders send condolences

The Orange party leaders sent in their condolences messages describing the death as a major loss to the family.

Kisumu governor Anyang’ Nyong’o described Wanga as a hard-working young leader who was destined to represent the people of South Gem.

“His death is a huge loss both to the family and the ODM, given that he was the party nominee for the South Gem Ward in Siaya County in coming elections,” he said.

“It is with great shock that I have learned about the deceased death at a Kisumu hospital. On behalf of the people of Kisumu, I convey my heartfelt condolences to our City Manager, Mr Aballa, Family, relatives and the ODM fraternity following Nick’s birthday demise. May the Almighty put his soul in eternal peace,” Nyong’o added.
