One man who was inside a car during the incident suffered serious injuries when the wind blew right off the acacia roots.

There was no warning of a high wind before the incident.

Confirming the incident, Naivasha sub-county deputy commissioner Mutua Kisilu said the incident was caused by strong winds.

“One person was injured during the incident and five cars were extensively damaged during the incident,” he said.

A reveller who witnessed the incident noted that he and his family were having a meal in the hotel when the sudden crash happened.

“There was a loud sound of something falling on the ground and on checking we found that an acacia tree had crushed on the trees,” he said.

According to Kenya Meteorological Department, Naivasha and its environs are expected to experience more heavy rains.
