Nandi Hills Member of Parliament Benard Kitur has slammed the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) for withholding the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination results for Samoei Boys Secondary School in his constituency.

Speaking at a burial ceremony in Lessos Nandi on Saturday, January 13, the legislator voiced his concerns questioning the urgency of releasing some results while withholding others without providing any reasons.

Kitur expressed his bewilderment at the apparent rush by the Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ezekiel Machogu to release the KCSE results without addressing the issues affecting certain schools.

He emphasized that there was no competition with former Education Minister Fred Matiang’i citing the unnecessary stress imposed on parents when results are withheld without justification.

“There was no hurry for the Minister of Education to release the results; you’re not competing with Matiang’i. What was the hurry to release the results if they had issues? Why didn’t you resolve those issues because nobody was going to university or college in January? Parents are going through so much trauma when you withhold results for no reason,” Kitur declared.

The legislator criticized the selective release of results, highlighting the pain the parents and students who did not get their results feel.

“You release results on one page, and in that one page, it’s only 11 plus,” he remarked.

In a bold demand, Kitur called for the resignation of KNEC officials if they could not perform their duties effectively.

“I demand that the KNEC CEO and Chairman, kama mmeshindwa na kazi, just damn resign,” Kitur retorted.
