A 35-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly attempting to sodomise a 14-year-old boy in Frere Town, Nyali, Mombasa County.
Collins Akiro Okeyo was waylaid by a neighbour, who claims to have watched the act in utter shock, as the suspect lured the minor into a secluded area and attempted to sodomise him before she raised an alarm.
The incident took place on Monday at around 7:00 pm.
Nyali sub-county police Commander, Daniel Masamba, said the suspect was handed over to the police by members of the public.
“He was caught in the act while attempting to sodomise the boy by a resident who watched as the suspect cornered the minor took him to a secluded corner then began to strip him naked,” Masamba said.
Mombasa police yet to record statement
The suspect is cooling his heels in the cells waiting for the police to record statements from witnesses and the minor.
“The minor is yet to record his statement since he is still traumatized by yesterday’s night incident, he is undergoing counselling and has since been taken for medical examination,” he said.
The suspect will be arraigned in court once investigations into the heinous act are complete.
