Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has called on former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka and National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah to employ more direct communication like phone calls instead of writing letters to each other.
Speaking on Sunday, Murkomen said that if talks between Kenya Kwanza and Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party fail the two will carry the blame.
Kalonzo was appointed to lead the Azimio team in the national dialogue, while Ichung’wah was appointed to lead Kenya Kwanza team.
“I do not know why Kimani Ichung’wah and Kalonzo Musyoka are writing letters to each other. Let them call each other and meet to start dialogue. I this the first time people are having dialogue?” Murkomen posed.
Murkomen accused the two sides of wasting time and holding the country at ransom, instead of initiating talks immediately.
“This is not the first time we are having a conversation. Leadership and governance of a country is a continuous conversation. The way we make this country one nation is having a continuous conversation about the issues that crop up any time because having that kind of conversation removes us from the use of violence and misunderstanding,” he added.
“Maybe we are all saying the same thing, but because we are not sitting together and having a conversation we use the misunderstanding of the medium of communication to cause havoc for nothing. Let Kalonzo and Ichung’wah stop writing letters and meet.”
Murkomen was speaking during a fundraising campaign at St Arnold Nyalienga Catholic Church attended by Azimio adherents including Governor Gladys Wanga, Suba South MP Caroli Omondi and his Ugenya counterpart David Ochieng’.
Kenya Kwanza team comprises of Ichung’wah, Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot, Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire, East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP Hassan Omar and Bungoma Woman Representative Catherine Wambilianga.
On the other hand, Azimio team comprises of Kalonzo, National Assembly Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi, Democratic Action Party leader Eugine Wamalwa, Malindi MP Amina Mnyanzi and Nyamira Senator Okongo Omogeni.
